Trithemius on Otfrid von Weissenburg: a note

Otfrid von Weissenburg is the first German writer known to us by name. His pious rhyming Evangelienbuch is enlivened by his use of number symbolism and by the three dedicatory poems which spell out the names of his patrons in the first and last letters of each line.
